iCareDaycare Discipline and Expulsion Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
iCareDaycare is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, respectful, and inclusive environment
where every child is treated with dignity. Positive guidance and redirection are used to help children develop self-control, confidence, and appropriate social skills. Corporal punishment, humiliation, intimidation, or any form of physical or emotional abuse is strictly prohibited.
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE PRACTICES
• Set clear, age-appropriate expectations.
• Redirect children to appropriate activities.
• Reinforce positive behavior with praise and encouragement.
• Teach problem-solving and conflict resolution.
• Use calm verbal reminders and modeling.
• Provide choices when appropriate.
• Use brief, developmentally appropriate cooling-off periods when needed.
PROHIBITED PRACTICES
iCareDaycare will never use physical punishment, spanking, shaking, yelling, threatening,
withholding food, isolating a child for punishment, ridicule, or any practice that could harm a child's physical or emotional well-being.
PARENT PARTNERSHIP
Parents will be informed of ongoing behavioral concerns. Together we will develop consistent
strategies to support the child's success. Conferences may be scheduled when additional support is needed.
BEHAVIOR SUPPORT PLAN
If challenging behaviors continue, observations will be documented, strategies implemented, and referrals to community resources may be recommended with the family's consent.
EXPULSION POLICY
Expulsion is a last resort. Before considering disenrollment, iCareDaycare will make reasonable
efforts to work with the family through communication, behavior support strategies, and referrals when appropriate. Immediate termination may occur if a child's behavior presents a serious safety risk that cannot be safely managed or if a parent repeatedly violates program policies.
GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE TERMINATION
Examples include: repeated non-payment of tuition, threats or violence toward staff or children,
knowingly bringing a child with a contagious illness without disclosure, or behavior that places
others at immediate risk.
PARENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By enrolling at iCareDaycare, parents acknowledge they have read and understand this Discipline and Expulsion Policy and agree to work collaboratively with the provider to support their child's development.
